There's a big focus on both the weirwood tree and the Three-Eyed Raven this week, with both having important parts to play in the storyline of Bran and the White Walkers.

However, it goes a bit further than that, with a rather striking similarity in their appearances. This is the most distinct look at a weirwood tree we've had yet, and different from others we've seen, and it does look as though it has very much been modelled on the face of Max von Sydow.

Coincidence or deliberate? This being Thrones, you'd have to assume the latter, although I'm not sure exactly what it means. Some connection between the weirwood tree and the Raven seems obvious, but maybe also a hint at his ties to the White Walkers or something along those lines.

Either that or the set designers saw Sydow's face and thought 'that'd look great on a tree'. And let me tell you, they weren't wrong.
