Game Of Thrones Season 7: 10 Huge Questions After The New Trailer

8. How Did Cersei's Regime Become So Popular?

Cersei has never been popular among the citizens of King's Landing. Her walk of shame really highlighted how much the masses hated her. That was before she blew up the Sept of Baelor, resulting in countless deaths in the process.

So, why are the common folk applauding as Cersei's soldiers march through the city? If the concentration of people featured in the above image is the same throughout King's Landing, it's not hard to imagine that most of the citizens are approving of her work.

Does Cersei do something to gain their favor? Does she blame the destruction of the Sept (and highly beloved Queen Margaery Tyrell) on someone else, then immediately bring that person to "justice"? Or did the citizens despise the rich (elite class) and powerful (Faith Militant) that died in the explosion?

Clearly Cersei is up to something, which is of no surprise. However, if she did in fact manipulate the citizens of King's Landing to support her, why would she bother? Cersei has thus far shown nothing but contempt for the common folk.

Perhaps there is another explanation. In a different shot, Jaime may be marching through High Garden, walking past a slain soldier and indicating that the Lannisters had won the battle. It is possible that the citizens are merely celebrating the soldiers' success, although the immediate cut to a concerned-looking Cersei tells a different story.

Whatever the reason, Cersei's action will no doubt both trouble and intrigue us in the upcoming season.
