Game Of Thrones Season 7: 10 Huge Questions After The New Trailer

9. Why Is Jon Going Back To Hardhome?

Please don't let the answer be "because we need the dragon glass that the Wildlings left behind."

Although Jon's location in the above shot is not definitive, it certainly appears as though he has returned to Hardhome for some reason. We do know that he ventures beyond the wall, but the purpose is unclear. After all, this season seemed to be more focused on the War of the Five Queens (please let it be called that) than on the impending White Walker invasion.

Presumably, Jon joins up with the Brotherhood Without Banners, unless someone else has a flaming sword. Although let's face it: everyone should have a flaming sword. Which brings an entirely new set of questions.

Why would Jon take the Brotherhood Without Banners to an extremely dangerous location when he has an entire army at his disposal? Obviously, the Northern forces would be fairly preoccupied with fighting against the Lannisters, but why did Jon have to seek out help in the first place? Most importantly, why would a group literally called the "Brotherhood WITHOUT BANNERS" join up with someone that literally has his own banner?

There has to be an incredibly important reason for Jon being here. He looks set to receive the secret behind Varys' teleportation ability, since it seems that he will be in Winterfell, Dragonstone, and Hardhome within the space of seven episodes. That's a lot of travel for the man that has literally never left the North for the entire show.
