Game Of Thrones Season 7: 10 Major Predictions
5. Tyrion Is Still Mostly Just Supporting, But Does Take Casterly Rock
Tyrion Lannister was established as the show's best character very early on in its run, and while it's something he was worthy of for most of the subsequent episodes, it isn't a billing he's lived up to recently.
That isn't to fault Peter Dinklage's performance, which is as great as ever, but Tyrion has largely been pushed to the sidelines, without the ability to influence things too much. He's been forced to twiddle his thumbs in Meereen while Daenerys was missing, so how he's back in Westeros will things get better for him?
Yes and no. Tyrion is still going to be playing second-fiddle to Daenerys, since he serves her as Hand of the Queen. That means his storyline is a supporting one, rather than more centralised as it once was. However, as the most prominent advisor of Dany, and one with great knowledge of Westeros and a personal investment in her victory, he should also get to show off his intelligence and cunning more.
A great example of this will be the Casterly Rock sequence. We know we're getting the Unsullied vs the Lannisters there, but we don't know who wins. It seems, gauging from the trailers, that Tyrion himself has orchestrated the attack, using his knowledge of the sewers there, and that should help guarantee victory. Tyrion should be at the heart of all of Daenerys' political moves this year, and him being the one who takes Casterly Rock from his siblings, the seat he was constantly denied by his father, will be a truly sweet moment for him.
