Game Of Thrones Season 7: 10 Major Predictions
4. The Cleganes Will Be Reunited, But Bowl Might Not Happen
Get hype? Maybe!
CleganeBowl - an epic showdown between the Hound and the Mountain - is one of the biggest Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire fan theories and, just like the brothers themselves, it absolutely refuses to die.
The theory originated in the belief that the two would clash in a trial by combat: Sandor, still alive but a changed man, representing the Faith, and Gregor, not technically alive and not really changed much either, fighting for Cersei. Obviously that didn't happen, as trials by combat were outlawed - seemingly a nod towards the theory, and confirmation it wouldn't happen - while Cersei then blew up the Sept of Baelor instead.
And yet, still the theory persists, the notion that somehow the show will find a way to bring the two warring brothers together again. And it may well be true, to an extent.
We know that the Mountain will be sticking close to Cersei's side this year, but it also appears that, as well as heading north, the Hound travels south too (see image above). And if that's the case, then it's not much of a leap to imagine it's in a scene involving both Sandor and Gregor. But this is Game of Thrones, which loves to play around with our emotions and expectations. We're going to get a tease of CleganeBowl, so close to it that we can almost taste it (?), and then have it snatched away as something even bigger (if there is anything bigger, that is...) happens to prevent it.
