14. The Wight Away Party

Obviously the plan to go and kidnap a wight was pretty ridiculous from the get-go, since it had precisely no exit plan - as if it would be absolutely possible to just walk into a beehive of wights and take one without kicking up too much of a fuss.

But luckily for Jon Snow and his followers, their plan was helped hugely by the fact that the white army sent out a scouting party just ahead of the main army, which makes precisely no tactical sense. Especially not when they're walking through a valley, surrounded by high ground with low visibility where they could be attacked by an unseen enemy at any point.

It was another silly conceit designed to help the plot along, more than anything.
