After a less-than-blistering opening, Season 7 of Game of Thrones will take the necessary brakes of exposition off as it heads towards its all-too-close resolution in just over six weeks. The premiere was very much all about setting the chess pieces before they launch at each other in battle, establishing the lay of the land and where every major character is geographically and mentally.
Now it's time for the big show to begin, and it will start with episode 2 - Stormborn - which will presumably have a distinctly Targaryen flavour. The synopsis is typically vague: "Daenerys receives an unexpected visitor. Tyrion plans the conquest of Westeros," but the trailer holds some clues to how the episode could unfold.
There are hints of a big return, the start of all-out war and betrayal and insurrection once more in the North. It's also pretty likely that we'll see the first really high profile deaths of the season (by the law of averages, they're already well overdue). Just as long as we get to see more Hound, everyone should be happy.
Here's the trailer...
And what does that mean for the next, blistering episode?
