6. The Night's Watch

Speaking of Ygritte, she was the one for whom Jon broke his Night's Watch vows, but in this episode we see he still hasn't let go of them fully, telling Beric: "I am the shield that guards the realm of men."

It comes not long after Jon discusses the former Lord Commander of the Night's Watch, Jeor Mormont, with Jorah, and tells him: "The Night’s Watch was his life. He would have died to protect every one of those men. And they butchered him. I hate that he died that way.”

That, of course, is also what happened to Jon himself, so no wonder he's not a fan of it.

The final call to the Night's Watch is Benjen himself. He's a big reason Jon took the black in the first place, and it was him supposedly returning that led Jon outside to his death. His return then saves his life.
