Game Of Thrones Season 7 Premiere: 9 Things You Might've Missed In 'Dragonstone'
1. The Gravedigger
Even if it's not exactly stated, it is heavily nodded towards that the house the Hound and the Brotherhood enter is familiar to him. He clearly knows of its inhabitants (who are now dead), and it is indeed the same one he and Arya visited back in Season 4. Back then he said they'd be dead when winter came, and has unfortunately been proved right.
There's a bigger reference when he decides to bury them, which nods towards the books. In A Feast for Crows, when Brienne is on the Quiet Isle, she sees a gravedigger who, it's noted, is bigger than she is, and has an injured leg (similar to injuries sustained by the Hound), while his face is covered. That alone gives a hint (and there's also the presence of Clegane's horse on the Isle), but it's when he bends down to pet a dog that it feels like a deliberate nod to the character being Sandor, who is 'dead' at this point.
The theory in turn gave rise to a bigger theory, becoming (in part) the catalyst for Cleganebowl, with the Hound coming back to fight for the Faith against his brother Gregor. While that trial by combat won't be happening on the show, there is still a chance of a meeting (and maybe a fight) between the two brothers to come this year.
