Game Of Thrones Season 8: 12 Things You Might've Missed In 'A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms'

6. Kingkiller

In one of the best gags in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, Tormund refers to Jaime as the one people call "Kingkiller," which Jaime nicely responds to with "I'm sure someone does."

It's a nice joke in and of itself, but there's also a fun reference to the broader world of fantasy fiction. The Kingkiller Chronicles are an epic series of novels by Patrick Rothfuss, with some parallels to A Song of Ice and Fire - not least in that, like with ASOIAF, fans have been waiting years for the next book in the series.

George R.R. Martin and Rothfuss are friendly, and even both commented on the speed of their writing with references to one another, so this could be a cut reference to that.
