Game Of Thrones Season 8: 13 Predictions & Theories For The Battle Of Winterfell

9. Bronn Turns Up (And Fights FOR The Lannister Brothers)

Game of Thrones Bronn
HBO

Bronn was given a new mission at the outset of Season 8, which provided him with his biggest, most important role to date: kill Jaime and Tyrion. It's a huge ask for Bronn, given how close he grew to the Lannister brothers (even if he'll pretend it was mostly just for the gold), but he's always said he'll go where the money is. That would mean, in theory, he'd go through with killing them.

Except, of course, he won't. There's no way that either of their journeys ends with them being killed by Bronn. And there's reason to believe Bronn isn't quite so hardened and gold-focused as he wants everyone to believe, and thus wouldn't kill the only two people in this world he cares about other than himself. But there is a way of having his plan altered and staying true to his quest for gold.

It's quite simple, really. He turns up at Winterfell (given time constraints, there's a chance it'll be after, but there's no doubting it'd be good to have him involved) and it turns out Tyrion was paying him double all along. It fits with their entire relationship, and their arcs, and means Bronn doesn't have to even attempt to kill them. It also makes Tyrion look smart, something he hasn't done for a LONG time.
