6. Dany Dies...

There's no way back for Dany. Even if the show makes the absolutely towering mistake of having her turn away from her Mad Queen persona (they won't), she has too much blood on her hands and she's too haunted by the idea of a threat to her position from the North for her to "win." She is Gollum, a creature twisted by desire for the throne, but understandably also by pain and loss (no matter how much some sections of the fanbase don't want to acknowledge the legitimacy of her grief).

The show has carefully laid out the idea that anyone who actively SEEKS power for themselves - Cersei, Littlefinger, Euron, Stannis, Ramsay - and isn't motivated by the "good of the realm" or of its people - cannot prosper. They end up chewed up by the wheel of the Great Game and that's where Dany has been headed all along. She might have claimed she wanted to break the wheel, but she's also talked extensively about her "right" to power and having her position stolen from her. No matter how "just" and "merciful" a leader she's been or could have been, that hunger sets her apart differently.

Ultimately, Dany HAS to die. Living in exile didn't suit or sate her and she'd never be able to get over the emotional wounds that have led her to where she is ahead of the finale.
