Game Of Thrones Season 8 Finale: Every Survivor's Ending Ranked Worst To Best

8. Brienne Of Tarth

Game of Thrones Brienne Jaime White Book
HBO

How you take Brienne's ending probably depends on how you view Jaime's treatment of her, which was the stuff douchebags are made of. Having decided he wanted her, he seduced her only to then have a post-coital epiphany that he had to go back to Cersei, so he hopped out of the still-warm bed and fled back to King's Landing after reaffirming to Brienne that he IS, in fact, a dick.

At this point, Brienne was heartbroken for good reason and while she then gets the happy ending of ascending to the position of Lord Commander (a fitting role for the best knight in the Six Kingdoms), she shouldn't really have been made to forgive Jaime.

But then, as this show has always stated, romance is a killer and Brienne gave Jaime the redemption he maybe kind of sort of sometimes deserved by writing his history to restore his honour. She rose above feelings to make his legend one of a protector and not a Kingslayer, which is all well and good for him, but does come at a cost to her.
