Game Of Thrones Season 8 Finale: Every Survivor's Ending Ranked Worst To Best

To paraphrase Ramsay Bolton, if you thought this was going to have a conventional ending, you haven't been paying attention. After eight seasons of watching George RR Martin and the TV show team working consciously against typical fantasy tropes and subverting pretty much everything, their final subversion was to put the Three-Eyed Raven on the throne. Presumably after rebuilding a throne.

It might have triggered a lot of people, but it made a lot of sense. Bran was always told that he would fly again and as the protector of man's memories with no investment in letting the position corrupt him (he's basically incorruptible, seemingly), he was a far better candidate than anyone who actually sought the throne.

He probably won't be a good ruler in himself, but he's got good people around him. Or at least he does for a while until they all die and he lives on for several hundred more years with more advisors around him. Because he's essentially immortal and doesn't seem to have told the council when they were proclaiming that his successor would be chosen democratically.
