Drogon now has the distinction of being the last dragon standing, but is that a good thing? Given the rate the show has killed the dragons off and, on top of that, largely removed magical elements from the world, it's entirely possible that Drogon dies in the finale. It fits with that ethos, and also it's one last thing to take from Daenerys too - not least because, if you're going to kill her, then you need to do something about her firebreathing child too.

At the same time, there are no scorpions left, and it's tricky to see just how anyone left could actually kill a dragon, unless Bran wargs into it or Jon screams at it (no, neither of these things are going to happen). There might instead be an ending where Drogon instead just flies off, perhaps to the ruins of Valyria. It's certainly hard to see how he could stick around Westeros, even if Dany lives, but killing him is no easy feat either.
