Game Of Thrones: The Last Watch Review - 8 Ups & 3 Downs

1. The Camaraderie

And speaking of the cast dynamic, the documentary is very big on showing the sense of family that exists among the crew from the lowest level right up to the producers. These people spent so long together, endured so much and created something so magical together that you really get a sense of the camaraderie - which borders on black humour a lot - thanks to the documentary.

The true genius of focusing where the documentary chiefly focuses is that we get the same sense of grounded focus as when the show itself let us watch big battles through the eyes of individual characters. Talking to these crew members and staff and watching signs of their bond is like watching Arya view the decimation of King's Landing from the ground level or Bronn weave his way through a bloody, fiery battlefield towards the Scorpion. It just feels... more.

And as for the cast: there's further insight into how the filming and the ending really took a toll on them. You really begin to understand another level of the emotion behind those scenes: of the authenticity in actors who've grown to be close friends dying. Even as characters, they are friends. It's very, very emotionally charged for a production story.
