Game Of Thrones: The Last Watch Review - 8 Ups & 3 Downs

2. We Don't See Enough Of The Main Cast

If you watched the Inside The Episode mini-documentaries that have become part and parcel of the Thrones screening experience then you will have already got some insight from the cast on what went into filming, but it's something that's missing from experience of this documentary, to be honest.

We see lots of perspective from the "smaller folk" of the production - the extras, the producers, the effects team, the stuntmen - but when the cast do turn up (like Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington sitting in make-up and the latter revealing that he was almost caught out naked by a drone thanks to carelessly open curtains or Kristofer Hivju greeting his fellow cast members warmly) it makes it feel like an oversight.

Perhaps it might just be nice to see another documentary like this with more cast diaries as well. It shouldn't have had to come at the cost of what the documentary DOES achieve with these "less notable" figures, but it's definitely missing. There's lots of content out there thanks to the actors' social media presence, but not seeing Jeanie Finlay knitting it all together is a shame.
