7. The Characterisation And Shot Hints

Internet fandom is fascinated by the idea of learning what makes a performance tick. We look for tics and quirks in what an actor does to add detail to a character and we endlessly pour over the idea of method and characterisation and it's thus great to see little hints of it in here.

Like over-hearing Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams standing on the fake parapet, watching out over the Winterfell battlefield and being told to play it "like they've got stomach ache". Or Vladimír Furdík offering his thoughts on the Night King hating what he has been forced to become and then as he heads towards his death scene, seeing him being told the little touch that the Night King dies before he even has a chance to be surprised. These are the details that makes something like this documentary essential viewing.

And then there's stuff like learning that Arya's leap out of the darkness at the Night King was done by her climbing a pile of wight bodies. It's not exactly essential to the character, but it fills in gaps and there's nothing more we love as a fanbase than being given that opportunity.
