Game Of Thrones Theories: 13 Epic Season 6 Moments Still To Come
4. The Power Switch
Consider the odds in the battle between Ramsay and Jon Snow: the former has tens of thousands of trained, uncompromising soldiers, heavily armoured, with cavalry, archers, footmen and the support of both the Karstarks and the Umbers. Jon has 62 Mormonts, one giant and a few thousand Wildlings in furs. It's not a fair fight.
Something HAS to give. That means some major swerve in the fortunes on the battlefield just when it seems all hope is lost - like Gandalf arriving at the last minute with the Riders of the Rohirrim, or Aragorn with the Army of the Dead.
There are two possibilities for what that swerve might manifest as. Some say it could be the Umbers revealing they're actually declared for House Stark and cutting down Bolton forces from the rear, or more likely, it's that Littlefinger will turn up with the Knights Of The Vale to lend a mighty hand.
Likelihood: 9/10
It simply has to happen. No matter which option happens, the Starks cannot currently win the battle on their own.
Given the fact that someone has decoded Sansa's letter (above) to reveal she wrote to Littlefinger asking for help and offering him atonement for his sins, it does seem most likely that he will send his forces to help. It would also suit his agenda for self-gain if he thinks his assistance will allow him to strengthen his own position.
Then again, both rumours could be true (it would be glorious to see Ramsay undone by a deception similar to the one he pulled on Theon Greyjoy).
