3. Jaime Would Still Have Both Hands
Joffrey called the shots on Ned's execution, but the Lannisters were hardly devastated afterwards. Their fierce noble competitor from the North was toppled. Unfortunately for Jaime Lannister, he was the one lion who ended up losing a literal piece of himself in the aftermath. After Robb's stunning victory in the Whispering Wood, Jaime was taken prisoner, and things progressively got worse from then on. He fell from frying pan to the fire and back again, losing his hand in the process. That seems like a dire situation, but let's face it, losing the hand saved Jaime's humanity. He pulled off a U-turn, redeeming himself in many areas to the point where people could argue him to be a hero.
