Game Of Thrones: 10 Actors' Past Roles Which Ruin Their Character

Mark Addy

King BarathGoT Role: King Robert Baratheon Past Role: Fred Flintstone - The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas While he was only around in the first season King Robert Baratheon certainly made an impact as a drunken, party-mad ruler with little concept of money. He loved him some tournaments and lived in a lavish fashion which caused people to think of him as a bad King. Despite his financial shortcomings Robert was a good man who cared for his friends. He managed to bring levity to the proceedings which can at times become rather dark. It was his trusting nature that got the best of him at the end when he was gored by a boar after being plied with drink. No tragedy in this other role, unless you count the entirety of The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas. You should. Quality aside, Mark Addy's naturally jovial character shone through as Bedrock resident Fred Flintstone. After I'd seen this and was rewatching Game of Thrones I found it impossible to take Robert Baratheon seriously. I appreciate that a lot of his role was comic relief but there were some serious moments that just didn't play the same, because frankly, once you've worn that orange stone-age toga, there ain't no going back.
