Game Of Thrones: 10 New Characters For Season 5

5. Trystane Martell

Trystane Martell is Doran Martell's youngest son and one of the many Martells that will be introduced in Season 5. Trystane is betrothed to Myrcella Baratheon due to a pact made by Tyrion during his stint as Hand of the King in Season 2, and is a young man. Trystane and Myrcella have become good friends by Book 4 and seem to like each other. They frequently play cyvasse, Westeros's version of chess yet more complex, and he seems content to lose to his bride to be. When Trystane's sister Arianne attempts to make Myrcella queen of Westeros, she sends Trystane away because he would notice their deception. After this attempt fails, Trystane is absent until he is invited to accompany Myrcella back to King's Landing for a visit with Cersei. Doran sees through this, and later reveals that had they accepted, the company would have been ambushed by mercenaries and Trystane would have been murdered. Cersei orchestrated the plot in order to blame it on Tyrion and thus give her a common goal with the Martells: to kill everyone's favorite imp. Trystane will likely be a minor character in the show, but will probably appear in several episodes but only in the background. Look for him to appear in around 4 episodes.
