1. Brienne Receives Oathkeeper And Is Charged With Finding Sansa.
At the end of last season, Brienne fulfilled her promise to Catelyn Stark and brought Jaime Lannister back to King's Landing, which Catelyn hoped would mean the return of her daughters. However with Catelyn dead, Arya missing and (in the TV show) Sansa still in the Red Keep married to Tyrion Lannister, there isn't a lot for Brienne to do after delivering Jaime. In the books, Loras Tyrell has her arrested for the murder of Renly Baratheon as soon as she arrives in King's Landing, but Loras is soon convinced that she had nothing to do with his death. On her release, Jaime gives her his Valryian steel sword and charges her with finding the missing Sansa Stark. Again, no-one is going to argue with where this episode got its title from. Oathkeeper is the name Jaime gives the sword when he bestows it on Brienne, telling her that she will be protecting Ned Stark's daughter with Ned's own blade. Brienne accepts, and then spends A Feast For Crows wandering fruitlessly through the Riverlands. In Oathkeeper, Brienne will begin her journey to find Sansa, carrying the sword of Jaime Lannister (is it just me that wants them to get together?), to finally keep her oath to Lady Catelyn Stark and bring her daughters home. Brienne's journey is a storyline that I am very much looking forward to, and I have two reasons for this: one is Lady Stoneheart, and the other is Lady Stoneheart. Catelyn Stark's metamorphosis into the lunatic, revenge-driven banshee is one of the best things about the books, and apart from doomed Merrett Frey, Brienne is our only introduction to her. Hopefully the TV show will also bring her back!
