Game Of Thrones: 10 Things We Learned From "Breaker Of Chains"

7. Tyrion€™s In Quite The Predicament

If it wasn€™t clear at the end of the last episode, Tyrion had been framed for Joffrey€™s murder. While being visited by his squire Podrick, Tyrion admits that while the world is a better place without Joffrey, he had nothing to do with his death. After telling Tyrion of the trial and how Tywin, Mace Tyrell and Oberyn will be the judges, Podrick tells Tyrion he€™s allowed to call witnesses to testify on his behalf. Tyrion asks for Sansa, but Podrick reveals that she€™s missing and asks whether she could have committed the murder. Tyrion states that Sansa isn€™t an assassin and that her disappearance is meant to paint him in a bad light. While Tyrion suspects his father, he€™s certain that Cersei, the person often behind his problems, is also not responsible. Of the other witnesses he wants, Varys has been called by the queen and Bronn is under investigation. Tyrion asks Podrick to find Jaime for him, but before he leaves, the squire reveals that a man offered him knighthood if he would testify that Tyrion poisoned Joffrey. Podrick turned down the offer, but Tyrion knows that they€™ll kill him for refusing, so he orders him to leave King€™s Landing before it€™s too late. Podrick was always loyal to Tyrion, and though it wasn€™t always clear, Tyrion cared about the boy as well. It€™s good to see that Tyrion showed concern for Podrick€™s well-being over his own, but it€™s sad nonetheless to see their relationship end. If he€™s smart, Podrick will get out of King€™s Landing before these mystery men kill him. As for Tyrion, since he€™s being set up as the fall guy, he has a difficult journey ahead. With few if any witnesses to call on and two-thirds of the judges likely to vote against him, his case isn€™t looking strong at all.
