Game Of Thrones: 10 Things We Learned From "Mockingbird"

6. Bronn Won€™t Help Tyrion

Remember earlier when Tyrion said he€™d have to ask Bronn for help? Yeah, that doesn€™t go too well. Bronn finally visits his former employer, except now he€™s draped in fancy new duds. It turns out that while Tyrion has been languishing in a prison cell, Bronn has had some new opportunities thrust at him. Already a knight, he€™s now been arranged to wed Lollys Stokeworth. The rules of inheritance state that Lollys€™ older sister will get Castle Stokeworth when her father dies, but Cersei and Bronn have arranged for her to be in an €œaccident€ before that happens. That way, Lollys inherits the castle, although Bronn will clearly be in charge. Bronn tells Tyrion that if he wants him to fight The Mountain, there€™d better be a good reward. Unfortunately, Tyrion can€™t offer much more than gold, which Bronn already has plenty of. He also tries to bribe the sellsword with land in the North if he should ever rule Winterfell with Sansa, but Bronn€™s not willing to wait for something that could happen when he already has a good thing waiting for him. Then Bronn gets honest. Fighting the Mountain scares him, and though there€™s a possibility he could tire out the hulking man in a fight, he doesn€™t want to take that risk. Bronn does like Tyrion, but he likes himself more. Tyrion, who€™s quite familiar with Bronn€™s sellsword nature, agrees with this assessment. The two shake hands and part ways. Bronn and Tyrion have been one of the best pairings the show has given us. As Bronn pointed out, they had some good times. However, Bronn€™s always looked out for himself primarily. The only reason he€™s been hanging out with Tyrion and helping him is because he€™s getting paid for it. He may like the Imp, but he likes money, titles and property more. Now that Cersei has given him all this, there€™s no reason for Bronn to risk his life fighting The Mountain. The two may have been close allies, but they were never truly friends. Bronn€™s ready to move on, and though he likes Tyrion, he likes his new stuff even more. Sad, but totally understandable.
