Game Of Thrones: 10 Things We Learned From "Mockingbird"

5. Daario And Daenerys Take Their Relationship To A New Level

Late one night, Daenerys goes back to her chambers and finds Daario there with some flowers he swam to an island to find. She€™s less than impressed and asks why he€™s here. Daario points out that he€™s unable to pursue his two talents while in Meereen: war and women. The Second Sons are forced to serve as knights while the only woman he wants doesn€™t want him. He asks her to let him do what he does best and go kill her enemies. Pouring herself a drink, she allows him to do what he does best, but then orders him to disrobe. The next morning, Jorah runs into Daario outside Daenerys€™ chambers. Daario, who€™s still putting on his shirt, states she€™s in a good mood. Picking up on the subtle €œindicators,€ Jorah walks into her chambers and expresses his disapproval of her sleeping with Daario, saying that he€™s a sellsword. Daenerys reminds him that he used to be a sellsword as well, but Jorah points out that Daario killed his captains and dumped their heads at Daenerys€™ feet. He doesn€™t see how she can have faith in him, but she quickly states that she doesn€™t. Instead, she€™s sent Daario and the Second Sons to retake Yunkai. Jorah fears that this will accomplish nothing since the Masters of Yunkai will just reassert their control once Daario and his men have left. Daenerys agrees, which is why she€™s ordered Daario to execute the Masters for enslaving others. Jorah suggests that she not take such a brutal approach, but she reminds him that she€™ll do whatever it takes to stop slavery. Jorah points out that he once sold people, and that if Ned Stark hadn€™t taken mercy on him, he wouldn€™t be here helping her with this moral predicament. Giving it some thought, Daenerys orders Hizdahr zo Loraq to go with Daario to Yunaki as her ambassador to tell the Masters the choice they have: die in their old world or live in her new one. Daenerys hasn€™t had a true love interest since Khal Drogo. Whether she truly likes Daario or only desires him physically remains to be seen, but she obviously sees something in him. Jorah disapproves, but while his logic is sound, his desire for Daenerys is also affecting his judgement. She€™s already friend-zoned him, but he still hopes she€™ll see him differently one day. As for her plans against the masters of Yunkai, Daenerys has made it clear that she€™ll take any brutal action necessary to end slavery. However, part of being a queen means listening to your advisors. Jorah wisely pointed out that violence isn€™t always the answer in these situations. Daenerys is willing to try diplomacy, although if the Masters ignore Hizdahr zo Loraq€™s warnings, there will be nothing stopping her from sending troops back to Yunkai to kill the slavers. If the carrot doesn€™t work, go back to the stick.
