Game Of Thrones: 10 Things We Learned From "Oathkeeper"

4. Jon€™s Not Safe At The Wall

Meanwhile in the North, Jon is training the new Night€™s Watch recruits. Unfortunately for him, Ser Alliser Thorne orders him to go back to his stewarding duties rather than, y€™know, prepare them for battle. As Jon walks away, Janos Slynt reminds Throne that even though he€™s the acting Commander, they€™ll eventually have to choose someone more permanent, and the men like Jon. Slynt recommends that Thorne approve Jon€™s mission to Craster€™s Keep. That way, the mutineers can take care of him. As he grabs his sword, Jon befriends Locke, one of the recent recruits. To Jon he€™s just another Brother, but we know better. Not only is he the sellsword who chopped of Jaime€™s hand, but he was sent by Roose Bolton several episodes ago to track down Jon and kill him. He€™ll get his chance soon enough. At dinner, Thorne informs Jon that his mission has been approved, but he can€™t order any men to go with him; just volunteers. Jon pleads his case to the men, and while it looks like no one will join him, several men volunteer, including Grenn, Edd and Locke. To recap, the wildlings are attacking from both directions, the mutineers will kill Jon and the others at first sight, Slynt and Thorne are conspiring to have Jon killed, and now Locke is part of the attack party. It really sucks to be Jon right now. Other than Sam and a few others, he doesn€™t have many people he can turn to. Even if he survives the Craster€™s Keep raid, he€™ll have enemies waiting for him back at Castle Black. One important bit of advice, Jon: don€™t turn your back on the new bearded guy.
