Game Of Thrones: 12 New Characters Set For Season 5

5. Septa Unella

As little time as has been devoted to the High Septons of seasons past, even less has been given to the female members of the clergy. In fact, our only representative is Septa Mordane, the kindly yet stern governess of Sansa and Arya Stark who traveled with them to the capital. She lost her head for her troubles, and we've heard nothing of septas since. However, with the resurgence of religion that will be featured in Season 5, one of the new main characters will in fact be a septa. Just as the materialistic High Septon chosen by the crown is replaced by the shrewder High Sparrow, Septa Unella will prove significantly less gentle and tolerant than the dearly departed Septa Mordane, providing an implacable example of how the new order can affect the highborn and lowborn alike. Septa Unella will be spending a lot of time with certain members of the royal family, one of which will swiftly learn that it is no longer the place of the rulers of state to try to interfere with matters of religion. When nepotism no longer rules the Faith in King's Landing, the pious are able to humble the schemers, and the lowly septa will exert power over some of the most prominent figures in Westeros.
