Game Of Thrones: 15 Upcoming Problems That Could Potentially Derail It
7. Changing Cast Members
The longer any show goes on, the more difficult it is going to keep actors committed to it, even one as good as Game Of Thrones. Long term contracts can negate this issue somewhat for the big roles. But what about the smaller ones? Going into season four, we're already about to see the third actor in the role of The Mountain, we've had the second actor to play Beric Dondarrion and due to scheduling conflicts, Ed Skrein has been replaced by Michiel Huisman in the role of Daario Naharis. Considering the amount of screen time this character is going to get over the next couple of seasons at Dany's side, it's not just a minor role change that no one will notice. If the show can't keep an actor in the role that appears week after week, how is it going to retain the same faces when certain characters flit out of the story for a few episodes or a whole season? While it might work for characters like Dondarrion, who had a single scene in season one before returning more prominently in season three, there are going to be many cases, like Daario, where the face change is distractedly obvious.
