Game of Thrones has been noted for its gratuitous nudity, and this was made clear from the very first episode, as we meet Daenerys Targaryen, who is stripping off to bathe, having been handily reminded by brother Viserys that she's now a mature young woman, as he plots to marry her to Dothraki warlord Khal Drogo. Emilia Clarke's Daenerys would be frequently removing her clothes throughout the show, though after season three apparently had enough of this, and told producers that she no longer wishes to do so. Given that we're clearly supposed to be taking her character more seriously these days as a threat for the crown, it actually makes a lot of sense. That said, Clarke's a gorgeous woman, so few are going to complain about scenes like this, even if they are almost laughably unnecessary most of the time.
19. Three-Eyed Raven (Season 1, Episode 4)
The show isn't especially heavy on visual metaphors, though one that has reared its head constantly throughout is the three-eyed raven who appears to Bran Stark in his dreams, appearing to try and lead him to the Stark family crypt, in a sense predicting the untimely death of his father, Ned, near the end of season one. It's a strange sight indeed, and though it may be more confusing than anything else on a first viewing, when you re-watch season one, it makes a lot more sense. The raven appeared again in Bran's dreams in season three, and Jojen Reed begins to explain to Bran how greensight dreams work, prophetic dreams which can vaguely represent future events. Above all else, it's a just plain creepy image.
Stay at home dad who spends as much time teaching his kids the merits of Martin Scorsese as possible (against the missus' wishes).
