Game Of Thrones: 5 Winners & 5 Losers In 'First Of His Name'

2. Craster's Women

One group of people who have had a bad lot right from the moment they were introduced in Season 2 has been Craster€™s daughters and wives. Even when the despicable wildling met his €œreal gods€, his women were forced to trade one cruel master for several new ones. We think it€™s fair to say that their time with the Night€™s Watch mutineers was even more terrifying and ruthless than the life they had endured under Craster. These are, after all, men who€™ve not had the freedom to be with women for some time. For many of them it€™s probably been years. Like a prisoner who has been starved of sexual release whilst serving time, the Night€™s Watch mutineers are suddenly released back into the world, and the first thing they get their hands on is a group of women who are all too used to being abused by men. When Jon Snow and his brothers come to kill the mutineers, Craster€™s wives and daughters are finally made free. These rescuers are not here to claim them for their own. They are offered the protection of Castle Black, but they wisely elect to follow their own path from now on. Craster€™s Keep is put to the torch; a symbolic gesture of the women€™s liberty. Where they€™ll end up is anybody€™s guess, but at least for the moment they have their freedom, and that counts for a whole lot more than what they€™ve ever had before.
