Game Of Thrones: 5 Winners And 5 Losers In 'Mockingbird'

2. Lord Robin

You may argue that Lord Robin€™s mother, Lysa Arryn, is the loser with her dramatic death at the end of the episode, but we never really expected her to last very long once Littlefinger had moved in; the event itself was merely a formality. The true loser following the death of the Lady of the Vale will be her son, Robin, who has now lost the only person in the world who cared for, or even liked him. Sansa does her best to be polite, but even she holds no genuine affection for him, and why should she? It€™s not like he€™s doing his utmost to warm hearts and minds. Littlefinger has no love for the boy either, but will likely keep him alive and rule the Vale as his guardian until he comes of age, or until Littlefinger finds a better use for his corpse.

Littlefinger can hold him as a hostage, of sorts, against the lesser lords of the Vale, that way he can legitimise his hold over the kingdom as lord reagent. No one can touch him in the Eyrie, and as long as Robin is still technically in power, then Littlefinger hasn€™t done anything wrong, well, apart from murder. He could then use Sansa€™s influence to train the boy into his puppet. Lysa has already done plenty of damage to his psyche, but he is still young, and as we€™ve seen in the case of King Tommen and Lady Margaery, an older wife is the best way to undo a lifetime of mother€™s work. If all else fails, Sansa may become pregnant with Lord Robin€™s son, and then Littlefinger can do away with Robin as he did the boys mother. He can then he can rule over the Vale for even longer before the son comes of age. Win-win for Lord Baelish; lose-lose for Lord Robin.
