Game Of Thrones: The Meaning Behind Every Episode Title (Season 4)

Episode 2 - The Lion And The Rose

The Lion and The Rose refers to the sigils of the House Lannister and Tyrell respectively; in recognition of the wedding of Joffrey and Margaery. This wedding is known by fans as the Purple Wedding, as an homage to the Red Wedding, and on account of Joffrey's death being caused by his wine which is purple in colour, along with his face after drinking it; as shown in the picture above. The wedding scene also contained a performance of "The Rains Of Castamere" by Sigur Ros. Although the performance only lasts for a few seconds - due to Joffrey throwing coins at them - it plays over the end credits of the episode in its entirety.
