7. Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson Ser Gregor Clegane
Ok, so this is a cheat it's not a new character, it's just a recasting. But still, bear with me. I'm pretty sure this guy's name exists to bamboozle keyboard writers everywhere, but luckily for me I've got control + V to keep me company. Anyway, on with the show. In case you can't tell from the picture up there, Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson is a scary-looking bloke. In his native Iceland, the guy's a strongman and sometime actor, and although he's not a household name, I'd argue that this isn't the point when it comes to The Mountain. You see, The Mountain is a freak of nature. He's almost eight-foot-tall, weights around 30 stone and can carry a two-handed greatsword in one hand. The whole point of the guy is to be terrifying, and if you look at the picture above, you can see they just might have nailed it. The look of the Gregor Clegane should be enough to scare the p*ss out of most men, but when Conan Stevens left after season 1, his replacement Ian Whyte didn't quite cut the mustard for me. Oh sure, he was massive and had a voice deeper than a throat-singer in a wind-tunnel, but he didn't look scary, nor built like a milk float. He just looked a bit lanky, which made those scenes in Harrenhal where everyone's fearful of this strange bearded man seem slightly incongruous. Whyte made for an excellent White Walker, but The Mountain, he was not. So that's why I felt Björnsson belonged on this list he's built like the heinous offspring of two brick sh*houses and has a scowl that could scare a man to impotence. So Mountain through and through, then.
