Deep in the south of Westeros is Dorne, one of the last countries to be annexed to the Seven Kingdoms long ago. You may recall that Tyrion schemed to have Cersei's daughter sent away from the capital in Season 2, whilst he was acting as Hand of King on his father's behalf. Well the place he sent her to was Dorne (also where the good wine comes from), which is ruled by Prince Doran of House Martell (they don't have kings in Dornish culture). The ruggedly handsome chap you see in this screen grab is Prince Doran's hot-headed younger brother, Oberyn Martell, better known by his killer nickname: the Red Viper. Oberyn Martell is a new character in Season 4, to be played by Chilean actor Pedro Pascal. He comes to King's Landing to represent Dorne on King Joffrey's small council, and also to seek justice for the murder of his sister, Elia, and her two baby children. Each was brutally murdered by Gregor Clegane during the sack of King's Landing, when mad king Aerys Targaryen was overthrown. Elia Martell was married to Aerys' son, Prince Rhaegar (Daenerys eldest brother), and her children would have one day sat on the Iron Throne had it not been for their premature demise.
