3. Oberyn Martell (00:45-00:47)

Jaime Lannister examines the sword that will become Oathkeeper, as Oberyn Martell says in voiceover: "Let me tell you a secret. The Lannisters aren't the only ones who pay their debts." Let's be honest here; what isn't awesome about Oberyn Martell? He's the dangerous, fiercely intelligent (he studied in the Oldtown Citadel for a while to become a maester), bisexual brother of the Dornish Prince Doran, infamous for his skills with poison which have earned him the nickname the Red Viper. He has eight bastard daughters, known as the Sand Snakes, and has taken great care of them, raising each one to be independent, intelligent, and deadly. He's also the brother of the Dornish Princess Elia Martell, wife of Rhaegar Targaryen who was raped and killed by Ser Gregor Clegane on the orders of Tywin Lannister, during Robert's Rebellion. Thus his speech about debts; he hates the Lannisters, and seeks revenge on them and the Mountain for his sister's death. His arrival in King's Landing, and the events that follow, are surely among the most anticipated moments in the series; for this writer at least, he's up there with the Red Wedding.
