Games Of Thrones Season 4: 20 Most Hotly Anticipated Moments

3. The Battle Of The Wall

The big battle of A Storm Of Swords is between the Night€™s Watch and the wildlings as they attempt to breach the Wall. It involves vast armies of wildlings, including giants, mammoths, and skinchangers, against an undermanned and outmatched Night€™s Watch. In a season that is reported to contain much more action throughout, the Battle of the Wall is hands down going to be the biggest set piece. In fact, it is going to be so big that, like the Battle of Blackwater, it looks like an entire episode is going to be dedicated to it. There are many reasons to get excited for this season four event. For time and budgetary reasons, the show often isn€™t able to portray events as fully as they are in the books, and this is particularly true for battle sequences. However, even just from the brief glimpses we€™ve gotten, it looks like the execution of the action has really improved. The Battle of the Wall may not have a €œwildfire€ moment, but it looks like the scale as a whole will be better in this one. It won€™t just be groups of men rushing at each other; the Wall presents a substantial tactical role in the entire battle. Neil Marshall will be directing this episode as well, which is a welcome return because he did a great job with Blackwater. His direction should be even better this time around since he had ample opportunity to prepare this season. It will probably end up being the biggest episode of the series so far. Those who feel Game of Thrones is a little too light on the action front should come out very happy with this one.
