1. That Generic Sci-Fi Feel

While the Nightflyers trailer gave us plenty to sing about, there was one pretty annoying thing that 's hard to ignore. The tone of the short preview is incredibly generic, and feels a bit like every other sci-fi adventure TV series or film that has come before. From the abandon-all-hope theme running through the two-minute teaser, to the flickering lights - it's all stuff that we've seen before.

This doesn't mean bad things for the show, however, as the trailer is simply relying on theatricality to get viewers' attention. Chances are that the show will be a bit less generic because premise is incredibly original. In fact, Nightflyers could certainly end up subverting the generic tone to give us something highly unpredictable. However, even with this in mind, it was hard watching the trailer and trying not to draw comparisons to the likes of Lost in Space, The 100 and even Firefly.

And now for the positives...
