Glee: 10 Episodes EVERY Fan Should Have Seen
3. Grilled Cheesus
Glee stepped into philosophy during the shows second season when they tackled the subject of religion during the episode Grilled Cheesus. From the title, you wouldn't think this would be a serious take on life and death, yet Glee pulled a trick out of the bag and delivered a thought-provoking hour of TV.
The story centred around Finn finding the image of Jesus on a grilled cheese, which sounds bizarre, yet there was a tragic back drop centring around Kurt. Burt Hummel, Kurt's father, has a heart attack at the begging of the episode which brings the topic of spirituality to the outwardly atheist Kurt.
Kurt doesn't believe in God, but the Glee club all aim to show the good that religion can bring out in people. A highlight is Mercedes taking Kurt to her local church. The community is so uplifting and happy that it bolsters Kurt's spirits, giving him strength during his current situation.
The covers in this episode are pretty tremendous. Kurt singing "I Want To Hold Your Hand", Finn singing "Losing My Religion" and then the club coming together to sing "One Of Us." This episode could have come off as tacky and cheesy, but instead, it remains one of the best episodes that Glee has to offer.
