2. Theatricality
Glee has done many themed episodes over its tenure. Britney, Madonna, The Beatles, but the one that stands out the most is Theatricality. The Lady Gaga tribute episode featured a story revolving around Finn and Kurt coming together as brothers.
Finn finds it difficult to handle Kurt's crushing on him, particularly when they are living in the same house. This leads to an eventual blowout where Finn loses it. In a fit of anger, he utters a homophobic slur just as Burt walks into the room. What follows is an incredible heartfelt speech from Burt, who acts so well in this scene. He is nearly crying, and he really gets across the pain of what he has just witnessed.
The episode focuses on parents a lot as Rachel also begins her relationship with her birth mother Shelby, played by Idina Menzel. The two have a terrific duet singing "Poker Face", probably the highlight cover of the episode. The themes of this episode really resonates with the audience. At the end of the day, it's about being yourself...which is what Glee is all about.
