Theres only so much poorly written dialogue that someone can be reasonably expected to endure, and with pearls like Youre a slovenly, lackadaisical cynic! or If my hair gets frizzy, you gonna be! or If I want riddles, Ill read the funny pageswell, lets just say that Gotham isnt exactly doing itself any favors when it comes to convincing viewers that it knows how to spin a good turn of phrase. Even more mind boggling? These choice dialogue samples are all just from the pilot alone. Thats right, folks: courtesy of Heller and Co., weve got 12 of these suckers (and counting) to savorbecause dialogue as amazing as this cant be contained to just one episode, right? Only in these episodes will you get to see talented performers like Jada-Pinkett Smith cough up lines like Some day soon, I am going to kill that old man with my bare handsand my teeth! Or lets not forget Donal Logue, who delivers with the utmost conviction and verve such choice turns of phrase as Scum-sucking toads! and You sit there with a panel of chimpanzees and a bucket of crack and come up with that? Practically Shakespearean, isnt it?
