Gotham: 10 Reasons The Court Of Owls Will Enhance The Show

2. The Penguin And The Cat Versus The Court

Look, Robin Taylor's Penguin is about as intimidating as a puppy with a butterfly on its nose. I'm more scared of his mother than I am of him (Penguin's mother, not Taylor's) and his hair continues to give me great amusement each time it shows up. Having said that, there are some instances where he embodies the role, which is either a great compliment on his acting ability or a horrible insult considering that Danny Devito also once played a convincing Penguin. It's been recently revealed that Penguin has taken Selina Kyle under his wing, symbolically sitting on her until she hatches into Catwoman. Having the two together is convenient as it sets up a potential sub-plot that can be adapted from Night of the Owls. Penguin is now the capo di tutti capi of the Gotham underworld, similar to how he is in the comics and, being a man of influence, power and hair-gel, The Court of Owls place Penguin on their hit-list. This turn of events will allow Selina to establish herself in Penguin's eyes, as the two will have to team-up to take on the Talons. Or, more likely, Penguin will sit back and watch as the little girl takes on the zombie ninjas because the man is about as good in a fight as a premature baby drunk on Schnapps. Either way, Kyle solidifies her reputation in the Gotham underworld by ensuring that no fowl play takes place (look, I nearly got through the entire article without making that joke, you should be impressed).
