By far one of the best parts about Gotham is the dynamic between Jim Gordon and Harvey Bullock. Ben McKenzie and Donal Logue's chemistry is what kept me coming back to the show when my interest started to wane, and seeing the evolving relationship between their characters has so far been one of the most satisfying parts of this series. The problem is that Jim is the type of person who goes rogue a lot, and that led to Bullock fading into the background somewhat in the second half of the first season. Now that the Commissioner has nothing on him, it's essential Bullock's story of redemption continues and Gotham plays on the buddy cop elements that can bring the right kind of humour to the show. Montoya and Allen inexplicably vanished around the midway point of Season One and won't be returning as series regulars later this year. For whatever reason, the Internal Affairs story has now been dumped, so that's one less subplot for Gotham to worry about, and a good way for the show to focus on just the two GCPD detectives. The team behind Gotham surely realise that the show is at its best when these two are working together rather than split up, and it's essential that the next batch of episodes put the spotlight back on their relationship. If not, both characters run the risk of being overshadowed by the villains and Bruce's journey to becoming Batman. And if that's the case, then what's the point? How do you think Fox can save Gotham Season 2? Shout any more ideas down in the comments.
