Gotham Season 3: 6 Ups And 3 Downs From 'New Day Rising'
Downs...
3. Poison Ivy Perverts Puberty
It was clear that the showrunners had no idea what to do with Ivy but the nonchalant 'By the way, she's a smoking hot redhead cause she fell down a drain' schtick isn't holding. If we ignore it, it works but remember, this is a smoking hot redhead with the mind of a... fourteen year old?
I'll be honest - it is kind of amusing that we're expected to just go with it, as if we were in on a production meeting and just nodded to the pitch of Ivy physically defying all logic from a drain dip. Just because cocaine was involved. To have the audience simply be told to accept such as drastic, unbelievable change in a show that has (thus far) been steeped in jaded realism is a bit of a slap in the face.
I'm perplexed: If my daughter falls down a drain and comes out a full-grown woman with an affinity for plants yet the mind of seven year old, does she do more chores or less? Also, it depends on the plants in which she has affinity for.
