Gotham Season 5: 4 Ups & 1 Down From 'They Did What?'

2. The Callbacks

In addition to looking forward, They Did What? spent quite a bit of time reminiscing about the past, as plenty of characters reflected on their journey over the last five years.

It's to be expected considering the No Man's Land story has brought the show's narrative to something of a conclusion, but as we're almost at the end of the series, these reflective moments were incredibly emotional - for both us and the characters.

While Oswald reminisced about his time as Mayor of the city, he thought about all of the differences he could've made had Jim Gordon not stood in his way. Similarly, he thought about how he's grown into a Gotham titan - one that's a far cry from Fish Mooney's umbrella boy.

Of course, much of the reminiscing was done by Bruce, who - while faced with the dilemma of whether or not to blow up Wayne Enterprises - reflected on the memories he has of his parents, while thinking about all that they'd accomplished during their lifetime.
