Gotham Season 5: 4 Ups & 1 Down From 'They Did What?'
1. Heroes & Villains Come Together
After being previewed in the flash-forward sequence in the Season 5 premiere, fans have been highly anticipating the shootout between the good guys and the bad guys - one that would see villains become heroes as both Oswald and Nygma join Gordon and Bullock, as the GCPD engaged in a gunfight with Nyssa Al Ghul's army.
The fight was everything we could've hoped for, and it was made all the more perfect because of the build-up sequence which saw Penguin, Nygma and Bruce join together to defeat the forces of evil, as they marched towards the war-zone. Game Of Thrones eat your heart out.
Speaking of Game Of Thrones, Gotham's decision to bring all of the central characters together for the final battle proved incredibly fruitful for many reasons, with the main one being that it added a certain level of finality to this showdown - which was no doubt the writers' intention. In the eye of the storm, friends become foes and all that jazz. The stakes were necessarily high, and the action was nothing short of spectacular.
After this face-off, things would never be the same again - and our heroes knew this going into it. What a great source of conflict.
