Gotham Season 5: 5 Ups & 1 Down From ‘13 Stitches’
1. Jeremiah's Arc Is Developing Nicely
Although his appearances have been far and few between this season, Gotham's greatest asset undoubtedly remains Jeremiah Valeska - or, more specifically, Cameron Monaghan. The young actor has been nothing short of superb throughout his run on the Fox series, whether it be as Jerome or Jeremiah, and he continues this trend in this instalment.
It's might be another brief appearance for Jeremiah, but in truth, the shorter segments are actually strengthening this narrative, as opposed to diluting it, as it's aiding in building the tension, as well as increasing viewers' excitement for the big reveal of the laughing maniac's plan. By keeping the character's appearances short and sweet, the showrunners are also maintaining a level of mystery - one that simply wouldn't be there if we saw him all the time.
Having said that, it's become clear that Jeremiah's plan is about to reach its crescendo, and it's going to be extremely exciting to see what happens when he unveils his big finale - which somehow will feature Bruce's dead parents. Next week's episode will be extremely important in regards to this storyline, and Monaghan will no doubt deliver yet another career-defining performance. He's that good.
