Though Gotham wasn't allowed to mention The Joker by name, that didn't stop the creative team from quietly confirming that the show's long-standing Joker, Jeremiah Valeska, was indeed the Clown Prince Of Crime in the series finale.

When Gordon asked the newly-reborn Jeremiah what he should call him, he responded with a list of potential names all beginning with J. However, the names he listed, Jack, Joseph, John and J, were all subtle references to The Joker's well-documented history in both the comics and on-screen.

Jack was undoubtedly a reference to the character's real name, Jack Napier, in Tim Burton's 1989 Batman while Joseph was an alias he regularly went by in the comics. Moreover, John was a reference to John Doe (the Joker's alias in the Batman Telltale Games) while J was undoubtedly a nod to "Mr. J" (Harley Quinn's nickname for him in Batman: The Animated Series).

If that doesn't confirm that Jeremiah is the Joker, nothing will!
