The Riddler's main focus is not to simply kill but to put his victims through a gauntlet of traps and puzzles to see if they can escape. He is the Jigsaw of the Batman Universe minus the self mutilation to escape. Well, maybe not always... One thing about the Riddler is that he's not necessarily known for any kind of brute force and fighting abilities but comes across as more of a calculated villain that doesn't get his hands dirty in a fight. Jeremy Davies has the acting ability to be a more wormy or cowardly Riddler. Davies could also come across as a more traditional Riddler in being maniacal and flamboyant as seen in past inceptions of the character. As an actor, Davies has a wide range in being able to play a lot of different roles. His cowardly Corporal Upham from Saving Private Ryan to his more recent hillbilly portrayal as Dickie Bennett on Justified are proof of this.
