Green Arrow And The Canaries: 7 Things That Must Happen

1. The Canaries Are The Primary Focus

That brings us to the most important of all things that Green Arrow and The Canaries must do, and that is ensuring that the primary focus remains solely on the Black Canary.

Now, obviously in this particular scenario, we have two Canaries - as both Laurel and Dinah currently utilise the mantle - and that's okay. In fact, it's great, as it gives the show two chances to succeed. But it's imperative that it uses it wisely because they are undoubtedly the key of marketing this show.

Black Canary is DC royalty and, as this is the closest the Arrowverse has ever gotten to a Birds of Prey series, it would make perfect sense to maintain the focus on both iterations of her - especially in a year that the character will also make her debut in the Birds of Prey film. More to the point, Katie Cassidy is a household name and, as she was the first leading lady of the Arrowverse, it would also make sense to heavily focus on her character - especially since Earth-2 Laurel has been cited by many as the MVP of Arrow's final season.

At the end of the day, The CW is attempting to appeal to a whole new audience with this show - and as a major part of that audience will naturally be comic book fans - they're going to want to focus on the biggest draws. And in this case, we have two of them.

A legendary DC Comics character who only occasionally received the spotlight she deserved on Arrow, this is the creative team's chance to finally get it right. It's time for these Canaries to Cry.
